that would be nice...but not gonna happen here.

and in the rerun department, yes, more cold and even more snow--and it will be March very soon. (daytime highs for this week arent even supposed to get into the teens...we are supposed to be in the upper 30's-low 40's by this time with lows in the 20's--heck we cant even get up to the normal LOW for this time of year /really sad panda).

/end winter now --we want spring!

Snow moving in again. Calling for 3 to 8 inches Sat. into Sun. Then 3 nights of below zero lows, low 20's for highs. Guess I am waiting at least a couple more weeks to get started on the outside "pretties".

yes I think our weather casters have an easy winter---just say 'cold with a chance of snow' and they are right more than 60% of the time.
had a dusting last night...and more for the weekend (they are saying between 3-8"...thats a pretty big range)....and in the negatives for last night as well as tonight...might get over 20 tomorrow /faint.

I am really really over winter for a few years---not that cold was my idea of good weather to begin with.....

wtb warm weather pm me!

A couple nights ago, one of our local forecasters said it is very hard to predict how much snow will fall. He said, rain events are rather easy, if they say 1/2" and we get an inch, it really doesn't matter. Depending on air temperature, 1/2" of rain could be equal to 4" to 7" of snow. Should they predict the equivalant of a 1/2" rain event and we get the equivalant of 1 1/2", we could go from 4" to upwards of 24" of snow. Throw in a little wind, and you would have Armagedon. All forecasters get their info from the National Weather Service, then watch and adjust their forecast based on their experience.

Even though their jobs might seem easy, I would not want it.

yeah would be easier to just say how much precip instead of how many inches--but still the rest of the year they are wrong more than right.

They were showing photos from the winter of 78/79 on the tv last night...I remember that blizzard pretty well, was a pretty bad winter....remember it better than the one from 69....had some pretty bad years back then.

a job would be nice right about now--but having been out of the loop for as long as I have, I have a better chance of winning the lottery (which I do not play).

We are now being predicted to get 7+ inches of snow this weekend... It is the beginning of March. And we are getting more snow... Yay... I can hardly contain myself...

I enjoy my job, and it makes the days go more quickly. Though there are difficult days.

Ah yes, New Years Eve 78-79. Snowed heavy for nearly 3 days straight, winds howling through the walls of the place we were staying. Everything shut down for nearly a week here, or so it seemed. After the highways were "cleared", people were standing on top of their vehicles and still unable to see over the drifts. I carried a block of snow/ice taller than the cab and filling the entire bed of my pickup until late into Feb. Pushed the block out to move back to New Mexico. Glad we moved, the place where we were staying, burnt to the ground in April, after we moved. A turn of the century house, with 4 rooms upstairs converted into 2 two room apartments with a shared bath.

Well here is to hoping we don't get the snow. Mainly because this weekend got off to a bang... My wife found out yesterday afternoon that her grandma, who has stage 4 cancer, was in the ICU after a friend found her in bed and unresponsive. So we drove 3 hours so that my wife could be with her. Apparently the drive also caused us to start leaking transmission fluid. So now I am 3 hours away from my mechanics, with my wife's grandma being in the hospital (though she was doing better last night and actually trying to respond verbally), a car with a small transmission leak, and possible snow making for a hazardous drive back since I have to work Monday... Sigh.

sounds like you will be staying put for the weekend pwnd (especially if you went north--if memory serves as to where your lady is from)....perhaps give your dad a call and see if he can come up and get you? (or do your inlaws know a mechanic who can help you get back home tomorrow).....

they are telling us we should be in the clear by sunday afternoon....perhaps this will be the one storm that only swipes us instead of smacking us hard....but still saying from 3-6" (and that is only a swipe!)

still one of the snowiest winters and one of the coldest, gee so glad we could help out the record books.

The bullseye must have shifted overnight. The 5" to 9" they were calling for, when we went to bed, stopped at about 2 1/2" to 3". The Winter Storm Warning that was to last untill noon, is now(4:00a) just an advisory. I will be satisfied with this miss.

Safe journies pwnd. Hope the health news improves with each day.

edit: Their reason for the lesser snow, got more sleet than anticipated. Fine by me.

We actually drove it back. I filled it up and we drove it home with no problems. We are finally back from taking it to the mechanic, so he is going to look at it tomorrow. Roads were pretty good for getting snow on them overnight. Made for an easy drive back.

Her grandma seems to be doing much better. She was walking yesterday, which is a huge improvement over what it was like when we got there on Friday. So everyone appears to be on the mend.

Welp all that finger crossing didn't pay off. They couldn't fix it since they don't do much transmission work on Hondas. So now we have an appointment with the Honda dealer for Thursday morning. The mechanic I took it to said that it was leaking out of the transmission, but it didn't look like it was the gasket in the middle, but leaking out the side. So they might not have to drop the transmission to fix it. If they have to drop the transmission the bill immediately becomes pricey... So sounds like my next pay check is gone.

We are supposed to get some snow tonight and tomorrow. Then possibly 40's on Friday.

yikes, sorry to hear that one....cars just seem to be more expensive to keep up than when I was younger---back then you changed the oil and filters, checked the plugs and that was about it besides keeping the fluids at level....now you have computers and injectors and geesh, waay too much to be in a car!!! My old car I had for 15 years the first 10 only had to replace the brakes and exhaust a few times...newer ones seem to just eat money.

and yes, its snowing again with more planned for the weekend...will this winter ever end???????? (oh yeah possibly above freezing on friday--but wont last since its supposed to be cold again next week...../sigh).

Does certainly feel like they eat money at times. This would be one of those times. And I don't like taking it to the dealer because I feel like they do everything possible to make you pay more, not less. So I'm sure if they won't even consider trying to do it without dropping the transmission and will just go ahead and do it. Yay.

I don't know if we got snow last night, but we are supposed to get some today... Sigh.

yeah, hubby says that too--basically if you go to the dealership they will find SOMEthing wrong even if you are just doing your 5000mile maintenance (changing oil and filters type)....last time I had the corolla done it needed new plugs and wires--which is fine, but they also wanted me to get the timing belt changed ('should do it every 90k miles or 5 years' yeah, right...just had it done and only have 114k miles on the car....took us 11 years to do it the first time, have a few more years on this one before I think about that costly item again).

snow is basically ended here--flurries and an occasional shower...got a few inches (on top of what we did have....think I will build an igloo)....

Welp I'm tired of being the worlds punching bag. I feel like I got one thing sorted out and another pops up... Got the movers all scheduled this morning so that they can get the dining room set my uncle and aunt are giving us to where it needs to go. Then after school, it's snowing of course, we take my wife's car up to the dealership and drop it off. Get that all taken care of. Then I put my car sideways and the front passenger tire slams into a curb. I was lucky that I was able to avoid hitting anyone, including the guy in front of me. It bent the hell out of my rim and I'm sure I need an alignment. Just have to hope that I didn't break anything... It seemed to handle alright, with the exception of a bit of a pull due to the bent rim, so hopefully everything is okay. Put the spare on, which happens to be a full size spare, so I can still drive it. Thankfully since my wife's car is in the shop until tomorrow afternoon... I'm ready for winter to be done and for this week to be over. I just want to find a corner and stay there...
